About the Photographer

Photography has increasingly captivated my heart and mind since my earliest memories as a child, receiving my first camera, a Brownie Hawkeye, handed down from my mother, when I was around six years old. Since that time I have never been without a camera in my possession. But I did not set out to be a photographer by trade or profession, though I knew a few working photographers, including parents and some relatives in the newspaper industry.

I probably began to appreciate the complexity and power of the camera when I was in high school and upon entering college. It was then my parents noticed I was trying to make more artistic photographs with my little Kodak instamatic and they purchased a 35mm film camera for me as a gift. Fortunately, while not having formal education in photography, I was blessed with at least one good friend who did have formal education and was always willing to help me out with tips from his own experience. In fact, Jon Robichaud is still one of my closest friends and his knowledge and help through the years has been invaluable. There are other mentors and teachers and coaches as well, to whom I owe much gratitude, and I'll mention them in some of my future posts.

As my practice with the camera and skill grew, it happened that photography was a useful hobby not only for family and travel, but for business and outside interests as well to the point that in 2010 I decided to focus on creating and succeeding in the challenging genre of fine art photography and to begin to accept a few paid jobs photographing events for friends and business associates who began to ask for my services.

My experience and skill set comprises five distinct product lines: Fine Art Landscapes for the collector, Licensing for publications, Event Candids and Portraits for commercial clients, Family portraits, and Photography Coaching for beginning, intermediate, and experienced photographers. If you've read this far, please let me know how I can serve you.
